Benjamin "Kokoy" Romualdez ( Manila , September 24 1930 [1] - Makati , February 21 2012 ) was a Filipino politician , diplomat and businessman. He was the younger brother of former first lady Imelda Marcos .

Romualdez was born on September 24, 1930 in the Philippine capital Manila. He was the second child of Vicente Romualdez and his second wife Remedios Trinidad. His political career began when he was elected in 1967 as governor of the province of Leyte , a position he would hold until February 1986. In the '70s and '80s, he was next to his governorship by his brother Ferdinand Marcos successively appointed Ambassador of the Philippines to the United States from 1956 to 1967, China from 1976 to 1978, and Saudi Arabia . He also acquired a significant stake in dozens of major Philippine companies.
