DJ Shadow , real name Josh Davis ( Hayward ( California ), June 29 1972 ) is an American turntablist and producer .

DJ Shadow spent his teenage years in Davis , California and was a DJ at the local radio station KDVS. In this period, DJ Shadow was an important part of developing the experimental instrumental hip-hop style that is associated with the California localized Solesides record label. The first singles for the label, including "In / Flux" and "Lost and Found (SFL)," were genre-border work incorporating elements of funk , rock , hip hop , ambient , jazz , soul , and all kinds of construction material were pooled. DJ Shadow is often grouped with the trip-hop , though he hates the term itself.

DJ Shadow has already released a number of original works (in 1991 / 1992 for Hollywood Records), but according to the critics, it was not until the distribution agreement with Mo 'Wax that the sound of DJ Shadow became more mature and cohesive.

Shadows first full album, Endtroducing , was released in 1996 and came into the Guinness Book of Records as the First Completely Sampled Album in 2001 .

In 2005 Shadow released a Deluxe Edition of his first album, Endtroducing ... out.
