Brother Herman Verlinde and study[Edit]Edit

Erik is the identical twin brother of Herman Verlinde, likewise string theorist, and Professor of theoretical physics at the prestigious Princeton University, where also Erik has been a professor. Erik received In 2011 the prestigious Spinoza prize of the Netherlands Organisation for scientific research (NWO) for four major scientific breakthroughs that he to his name.

Verlinde studied physics at the Utrecht University and obtained his doctorate there in Nobel Laureate Gerard 't Hooft. He has his own gravitational theory was developed, which counts as an alternative to the big bang theory. He even stated that he finds the bigbangtheorie illogical. According to him, the problem is in the energy conservation. This would be because the universe has a constant energy density and more and more energy is added, without that physicists can motivate where this comes from. As for him, it is purely a matter of forms of energy into one another. [source?]

Verlindes theory of gravity[Edit]Edit

At a symposium on the Spinoza Institute Verlinde introduced a new theory on december 8, 2009 that both Newton's gravitation law as his second acceleration law (F = m · a) on relatively simple way may be inferred from differences in information density in the empty space between two masses and beyond.

In this theory is gravity no longer a fundamental force. It is the emergent effect of a deeper microscopic reality on quantum mechanical level. Itself compares it with the air pressureVerlinde: know the molecules from which the gas is not air pressure, this is purely the property of the gas, as emergence of the many moving gas molecules.

According to Verlinde is big bang theory out of nowhere very unsatisfactory. [1he rejects the dark matter as a corrective for the too high observed angular velocity of orbital motion of outer stars in spiral galaxies to those speeds to bring in accordance with Newton's laws. He meant by black matter and black energy something else: a presence of something (that deeper microscopic reality) that is very close to the idea of an all pervading aether, which is the cause of the emergent phenomenon of gravity is.

An analogy for gravity according to Verlindes theory is the force that drives towards each other ships that are near to one another in the water. That effect occurs because there the ships back to net more waves are present then in between. Between the two ships fit: no waves with a longer wavelength than the distance between the two ships. A similar effect plays a part in the Casimir effect.
