Floris Jan Bovelander ( Haarlem , January 19 1966 ) is a former Dutch field hockey player. He took part in the three Olympic Games and won here a total of two medals .

Bovelander debuted on Wednesday, October 2 1985 ( Netherlands - New Zealand 3-1) for the Dutch field hockey team and played 241 international matches, where the penalty corner specialist in total a whopping 215 goals scored knew [1] .
His last game for the Dutch national team, he played on Friday, August 2, 1996 , at the Olympic Games in Atlanta . Especially thanks to two penalty corners of "the gun with the angelic face 'won Netherlands at the time the Olympic title at the expense of Spain : 3-1. Previously, he took all the bronze medal at the Olympics in 1988 in Seoul and was fourth at the 1992 Olympics in Barcelona .
During the World Cup in Lahore , Pakistan in 1990 was BoemBoem Bovelander with nine goals on the basis of the world . That was significantly better than his first World Cup in 1986 in London, where the Dutch field hockey team finished seventh. At the third World Cup, where it was joined to Bovelander hockey world championship (1994) in Sydney . The team lost the final on penalty of Pakistan.
In 1987 Bovelander won the Dutch hockey gold at the European Championships in Moscow. Four years later, the silver was at the European Championships in Paris. Seventeen goals during that tournament are still the highest number scored by a player during a European Championship.
Bovelander, nicknamed Flop or Floppie came his entire career (fifteen seasons) out for HC Bloemendaal , the club with which he was six times champion, once champion hall and once won the European Cup. With a goal of 276 matches he has long been top scorer in the Dutch league . Until he on November 6 2011 passed was overtaken by Roderick Weusthof and later by Taeke Taekema .

After his hockey career Bovelander completed his study of biology off, Bovelander remained after his active career active in hockey ; Bovelander was included five years as part of the sport committee of HC Bloemendaal , and under coach Joost Bellaart ( 2001 - 2004 ) more than a year linked to the national team as a manager and assistant coach. Bovelander studied medical biology at Leiden , but now earns his living mainly as an organizer of youth hockey camps and clinics, and corporate events. The company he runs with his brother Jeroen hot Bovelander & Bovelander . He also wrote a weekly column in Dagblad De Pers .
