Rahal drove in the 2006 Atlantic Championship for Conquest Racing of the Belgian Eric Bachelart . He won that year five of the twelve races and finished second in the final standings of the championship. During the A1GP season from 2005 to 2006 he drove for the Lebanese team the big prizes of Mexico , the United States and China .
In 2007 he drove in the Champ Car series for Newman-Haas-Lanigan Racing . He was second in the race in Houston and finished in fifth place in the standings. In 2008 he moved with the team over to the IndyCar Series . He won early in the season on the street circuit in St. Petersburg , but could continue no longer get top five and was seventeenth place in the standings.Rahal also drove in 2009 the IndyCar championship for Newman-Haas-Lanigan Racing. He earned a podium finish at the Richmond International Raceway and at the Twin Ring Motegi inJapan . He was seventh in the standings. In 2011 he won the 24 Hours of Daytona .
