History[Edit][]

Guns N ' Roses was founded in 1985 by singer Axl Rose, guitarists Tracii Guns and Izzy Stradlin, bassist Duff McKagan and drummer Robbie Gardner. The name Guns N ' Roses was derived from the two bands, which together eventually formed Guns N ' Roses: 'L.A. GunsandHollywood Rose'. At the first scheduled performance could not appear Tracii Guns and Gardner, after which McKagan still did his best to find musicians. He was it, which for him not unknown guitarist Slash and drummer Steven Adler(Hollywood Rose and Road crew) added as a replacement, the original composition was a fact. (Michael Andrew "Duff" McKagan balanced between Hollywood Rose and L.A. Guns and brought them together.) In this brand new composition could still some five performances. Duff gave later that they had kept about anything, but that the ' enhanced ' the band Guns N ' Roses.

With this composition were three albums released:

  •  Live?!* @ Like A Suicide -(an ep released in own management) (1986)
  • Appetite for Destruction (1987)
  • G N ' R Lies -(1988)

From the album Appetite for Destruction were sold more than 28 million copies worldwide[1(of which 18 million in the United States[2]). This album had an incendiary cover illustration of the American underground artist Robert Williams. On the original cover was a picture of a monster with a daggers teeth that a robotic rapist attacks, while a half-dressed young woman injured on the ground. On the reissue was this image replaced by a cross with five skulls, which presented the faces of the band members.

Shortly after the beginning of the shoot of the Use Your Illusion albums Steven Adler left the band (he is only to be told on the track "Civil War" from Use Your Illusion II). According to rumors, he had to leave the band because he refused to seek treatment for his heroinand alcohol addiction[3]. Guns N ' Roses drummer Matt Sorum and was strengthened with keyboard player Dizzy Reed. In this composition were in the 1991 albumsUse Your Illusion I and Use Your Illusion II released. After a few concerts in support of these albums Izzy Stradlin left the band and was replaced by Gilby Clarke. More than two years long Guns N ' Roses toured around the world. During this period came from the single November Rain . It reached the 3rd place in the National Charts. The biggest hit that the Group had, in Netherlands was the Bob Dylan Knockin' on Heaven's Doorcover. It was about 4 weeks at no. 1 and was the best selling single in 1992[4.

In 1993 a new album came out, with covers of the heroes of Guns N ' Roses: The Spaghetti Incident?. Because the grunge had replaced the heavy metal as the most popular trend in rock music, this album sold relatively poorly. The following years Guns N ' Roses, slowly fell apart (in 1994, 1996 and 1997 respectively left Gilby Clarke, Slash and Duff McKagen the band [3]), until the end of the original line-up only Axl Rose was left.

Guns N ' Roses from 1998[Edit][]

In 1998 formed a new group Guns N ' Roses Axl Rose with Josh Freese ( The Vandals-former drummer, see also a Perfect Circle and NIN), Tommy Stinson ( The Replacements-former bassist), Robin Finck ( Nine Inch Nails-former guitarist), guitarist Paul Huge and Dizzy Reed (keyboards). In 1999 , a new single, Oh my god, from as a forerunner of a new album (Chinese Democracy) which eventually fans still nine years might have to wait. In 2004 there is a Greatest Hits album appeared in 1994, with the single released (last in old occupation) cover Rolling StonesSympathy for the Devil. The (ex) members of Guns N ' Roses were, however, not even with the release of this Greatest Hits album and for the first time in years, and his former band members Axl Rose were not facing each other, but together in court in an attempt to ban's release.

Guns N ' Roses continued to have problems with their occupation and concerts. Finck returned to Nine Inch Nails and the guitarist Buckethead joined the band in 2000. During two concerts in 2001, Freese replaced by Brian Mantia ( Primus-former drummer). He left Huge the band and was replaced by Richard Fortus (former Love Spit Loveguitarist). The new tour, the first since 1993, was not always sold out and got to do with riots because Axl Rose not always showed up. Finally, in 2002, all remaining concerts were suspended, including the intended concert at the GelreDome in Arnhem.

Buckethead left the band In 2004, again playing with regard to delays in the scheduled concerts.

Although there was no sign of new material for the time being, there were the necessary announcements. In september 2005, Axl Rose the ruling that there may be new material will appear by Guns N ' Roses on the upcoming soundtrack of The Da Vinci Code, the filmed version of Dan Browns bestseller, but this proved not to be the case, the entire soundtrack was composed by Hans Zimmer. Former guitarist Slash left in december that year during an interview at the American radio station WMMR know that the album Chinese Democracy should come out in March 2006. Itself left Axl Rose in January 2006 know in the magazine Rolling Stone, that "one will hear music this year". Later the release date has been moved up to the autumn of 2006, which Axl Rose in May 2006 confirmed in an interview on the American rock station Q 104.3.

A European tour in the spring of 2006 went with Ron "Bumblefoot" Thal as a replacement for Buckethead. On 29 July played Guns N ' Roses on the Roskilde Festival in Denmark. On 2 July 2006, the band gave a concert in Netherlands in the Goffertpark in Nijmegen.

Axl Rose stated backstage at the MTV awards that the long-awaited album that year (2006) still would come true. It was one of the rare television interviews he gave.

According to a press release in early October 2006, prior to the Chinese Democracy Tour, the new album on a Tuesday between 3 October 2006 and the end of the year are released in the u.s., without notice (an official release date was not given).

Wrote on december 15, 2006, Axl Rose personally [5a letter to fans stating that the album Gets a provisional release date of 6 March 2007 and that all other data are purely fabricated and not by the band have been confirmed. Also this date, however, was not met. According to the band and management was the album in only a conclusion which was mixed here and there.

Between 2002 and 2008 there are nine songs leaked on the internet. These are found on many torrent websites. All these numbers are just demos and no final mixes have already informed many band members. Axl Rose tries it again a little reverting to the Use Your Illusion albums but stops there also a good dose of electronic sounds in.

The album Chinese Democracy is still appeared on november 21, 2008. From that same date can put it on the official MySpace space of the group be listened to in streaming. This is 15 years after the last studio album by the band The Spaghetti Incident. Guns N ' Roses touring In 2009 and 2010 in support of the album throughout Asia, Canada and South America.

In January 2009 left Axl Rose know that he still wants to handle unused material in a sequel for Chinese Democracy. [6]

The band has on October 3, 2010 has occurred in the Gelredome XS in Arnhem during their new European tour.

On Wednesday 7 december 2011 is announced that Guns N ' Roses on 14 april 2012 is honored and added to the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame, at the same time as the Red Hot Chile Peppers.

Scandals around the band[Edit][]

Guns n ' Roses is also known for the many scandals. The offending cover of Appetite for Destruction (which was changed later) was just the beginning of a large number of questionable incidents, where the band reached the tabloids. The band played in 1988 at Donington Monsters of Rock in, where during their show two fans were oppressed and died. Despite the warnings of Axl to the public, not cooled down the crowd, with dozens of casualties. The press moved this off on Guns n ' Roses.

The many heroin use is also a worrying feature of the band. When the band was opening for the Rolling Stones promised steps to the public from the band to Axl, if certain members of the band not directly would stop use. The band kickte drummer Steven Adlerafterwards except, which thereby was put from the band.

In 1991 the band performed on in St. Louis. The band had a ban for cameras set, because they were often negatively portrayed in the magazines. When Axl a camera he exhorted the security in the public scoffed, to removing the relevant photographer. However, the security grip, and Axl popped up in the public itself, shared a number of hits, and climbed with the camera in his hand on stage with the communication that the concert was over. Fans were furious and the Hall was destroyed.

Guns n ' Roses performed several times in 1992 with Metallica. The concert In Montreal ran out of control, when James Hetfield (lead singer of Metallica) by accident during the show had to go to the hospital. Guns n ' Roses would occur after that, and could give a good concert Metallica-the disappointed fans, were it not for the fact that Axl got voice problems and the band after several songs already stopped the show. The audience was blazing and the situation ran out of control, with once again result in riots.
