Mark Bosnich (Fairfield13 January 1972) is a former Australian footballer of Croatian descent. He played as a goalkeeper.

Club Football[Edit][]

Bosnich played as a youth player some time at the English Club Manchester United, but due to problems with obtaining a work permit, he returned to Australia. Here he began his professional career at Sydney Croatia. Bosnich then returned in February 1992 back to England to play for Aston Villa . He knew his best period at the club.Bosnich in 1994 and 1996 with Aston Villa won the League Cup. In 1997, he was elected as the Oceania footballer of the year. Bosnich seemed ready for the English top, but both at Manchester United (1999-2001) as at Chelsea FC (2001-2003) he didn't succeed. At the end of december 2002, the English Football Association FAannounced that Bosnich was indicted for using cocaine. On 10 november of that year was in the urine of the goalkeeper and found traces of cocaine on 19 december also showed the counter-expertise positive. A week later decided to dissolve his contract immediately Chelsea FC. In addition, Bosnich suspended for nine months by the FA.This was for the Australian goalkeeper following his career as a footballer.

Bosnich also has 22 caps for the Australian national team played. In a WORLD CUP qualifier against the Solomon Islands (13-0 win), he scored his first goal from a penalty kick from his professional career. Bosnich was In 1997 with the Socceroos losing finalist at the Confederations Cup.
