Nikolai Alexeyevich Goeljajev ( Russian : Николай Алексеевич Гуляев) ( Moscow , January 1 1966 ) is a former Russian speed skater .

Nikolaj Goeljajev was between 1986 and 1992, active in the international skating. His specialty was the middle distance in 1000 and 1500 meters, where he first mentioned the distance to the Olympic Winter Games of 1988 in Calgary became champion. His Olympic title was controversial because he was caught a few weeks before the Games in the smuggling of anabolic steroids . Incidentally Goeljajev itself was never on doping caught. Four years later, at the 1992 Winter Olympics in Albertville , he tried to retain the title, but he did not go beyond the 8th.

Because of its speed on short distances, but also by his (initially) reasonable times over the long haul, Goeljajev in 1987 European and World Champion round with a wide lead over his nearest rival. His world was the first to be achieved indoor (Heerenveen). Through its world 1500 meters at the World Championships in 1987, he came to the top of the Adelskalenderwhere he stood. 1 day after one year Goeljajev was all-round champion of the USSR in 1987.
