Sir Steven Geoffrey Redgrave (March 23, 1962) is a British rower, who between 1984 and 2000 Gold obtained during five consecutive Olympic Games . With his five Olympic gold medals and a bronze medal, he is the second most successful British Olympic athlete of all time, after Bradley Wiggins with 7 medals.
At the 1984 Summer Olympics in Los Angeles he won gold in the category four with mate along with Martin Cross, Adrian Ellison, Andy Holmes and Richard Budgett. Along with Andy Holmes in Seoul in 1988 he won gold in the category two without mate and bronze in the category two with mate Patrick Sweeney.
In Barcelona In 1992 and Atlanta in 1996 was followed by gold medals in 3 and 4, both of them together with Matthew Pinsent in two without mate. The icing on the cake came in 2000 in Sydney, when he and Matthew Pinsent, Tim Foster and James Cracknell won in four without coxswain.
Redgrave was nine-time world champion (in 1986, 1987, 1991, 1993-95 and 1997-99) and in the year 2001 he was ennobled for his rowing performance.
Michael Campbell[Edit][]
Redgrave also plays golf as an amateur and he plays regularly in the Alfred Dunhill Links Championship. In 2010 he was 45 minutes in the car from Carnoustie to the golf course with Michael Campbell, who had a nasty period with a shoulder injury. He gave the following advice: Hard work! For Campbell was winning the U.s. Open in 2005 to compare as climbing the Mount Everest. Which Redgrave responded: "next time you should try it without extra oxygen". Put the bar!
