Mario Teodoro Failon Etong (Tacloban City, 29 March 1962), better known as Ted Failon or Teodoro Failon is a Filipino journalist, radio and television presenter and politician. Failon presented the television programmes Hoy Gising!, Hoy Gising! Kapamilya and TV Patrol World. From 2001 to 2007 he was a member of the House of representatives on behalf of the 1st constituency of the Leyte province.
Ted Failon was born on March 29, 1962 in Tacloban City. Over time the family moved to Parañaque City, where his father Jose worked as a Jeepneydriver and his mother Josefina as engineer. After his secondary education he began studying economics at the Colegio de San Juan de Letran in Manila. After some time, however, he changed his mind and he started a study mass communication to the Divine Word University in Tacloban. To pay for his studies, he worked as a waiter, a construction worker and dj. For some time he was also driver and reporter of a local radio station dyMM.
After his marriage in 1983 he stopped studying and joined by dyMM, where he worked until 1988 announcer was. In 1988 he started as program director at dwGU-FM in Angeles.
