In 2009 he became world champion in the small ramp. At the World Cup in 2001 Loitzl took his team gold at the small ramp and bronze in the individual large hill. At the championships in 2005 , he won the team gold at both the small and large hill, while his team in 2007 won the title on the large hill. On the ski flying World Championships in 2006 , he again won the team bronze.
In the World Cup ski jumping he knew, until early 2009, an individual still win. no contest However, he took six times a second and three third place. With the team he has won three times in a match. On 1 January 2009 he won his first individual World Cup race, during the traditional New Year's jump in Garmisch-Partenkirchen , part of the Four Hills Tournament , he left everyone behind.
